Overview
Shipping visibility in Pacejet provides a standardized way to monitor shipment volume, licensed usage, carrier distribution, and projected utilization across parcel and LTL operations.
These tools give you a consistent view of shipping activity so that reporting, licensing, and operational data stay aligned across the platform.
This article introduces the core components of shipping visibility and explains how utilization is calculated and displayed.
What Shipping Visibility Includes
Shipping visibility in Pacejet is made up of several connected reporting components:
Licensed shipment volume - Dashboards show the total number of shipments permitted under your current license. This value is the baseline for utilization calculations.
Trailing 12‑month actual shipment volume - Shows the total number of eligible shipments processed during the previous rolling 12‑month period. This value updates automatically as new shipments are created.
Utilization percentage - Represents the percentage of licensed shipment volume that has been used within the trailing 12‑month window.
Formula: Utilization (%) = Actual shipment volume (trailing 12 months) ÷ Licensed shipment volume × 100Shipment volume by carrier - Breaks down total shipment activity by carrier so you can see how volume is distributed across parcel, LTL, and other supported carriers.

Shipment trends -
-
Displays:
Month‑over‑month shipment activity
Period‑to‑date cumulative volume
These visualizations help you identify seasonality, growth, or sudden changes in shipping patterns.
-
-
Projected shipment volume - Estimates future shipment totals based on:
Average daily shipment rates, and
A selected projection end date
Projected values are visually distinguished from actual values so you can clearly see what has already occurred versus what is forecasted.
-
KPI summary widgets - Provide a consolidated view of:
Licensed volume
Actual volume
Predicted volume
Potential overage
These widgets give a quick, high‑level summary of your current utilization status and help you identify when you are approaching or exceeding your licensed limits.
How Utilization is Calculated
Utilization is based on a trailing 12‑month model, not a calendar year. Pacejet calculates the total number of eligible shipments processed during the previous 12 months. It compares that number to your licensed shipment volume.
Utilization is then calculated using this formula:
Utilization (%) = Actual shipment volume (trailing 12 months) ÷ Licensed shipment volume × 100
If projected shipment volume is expected to exceed your licensed limit within the selected time frame, the system may show projected overage values so you can plan adjustments before an overage occurs.
Because the calculation uses a rolling 12‑month window, utilization can change daily as older shipments fall out of the reporting period and new shipments are added.
How Shipment Data is Standardized
Shipping visibility uses shared shipment mode logic across license tracking and reporting dashboards.
Parcel, LTL, 3PL, and document‑only shipment flows are categorized using the same calculation rules. This standardization helps ensure that:
Licensed volume tracking aligns with dashboard reporting
Carrier breakdown totals reconcile with overall shipment totals
Utilization calculations use the same eligibility criteria across the system
Consistent logic reduces discrepancies between views and helps you trust that license and reporting data are using the same underlying rules.
Where to Access Shipping Visibility Tools
You can access shipping visibility components in:
Shipment volume dashboards – Explore shipment trends, projections, and KPI summaries.
Carrier‑level reporting views – Analyze shipment volumes and mix by specific carriers.
KPI summary widgets – Monitor high‑level utilization and potential overage risk.
License volumes – Displayed on each dashboard for parcel and LTL

Key Considerations
Keep the following in mind when reviewing shipping visibility data:
Utilization is calculated using a rolling 12‑month window, not a calendar year.
Shipment projections are estimates based on historical averages and may vary due to seasonality or business changes.
Only eligible shipment types are included in licensed volume calculations.
Reporting values update dynamically as shipment data changes.
Shipping visibility provides a unified framework for monitoring shipment activity and licensed utilization. By understanding how shipment volume is calculated and displayed, you can interpret reporting data accurately and keep your operational activity aligned with your licensed capacity.
