Carrier Versions and Upgrades

Descartes Pacejet carrier integrations are updated over time as carriers change their APIs, rate models, and service options. This page explains how those updates reach your portal, how Pacejet now identifies each carrier version and how to find the version you are running.

How Carrier Upgrades Are Delivered

Not every carrier is upgraded the same way. Some carriers are upgraded automatically to the latest version as soon as it is released, so you get the new version without doing anything. Others cannot be upgraded automatically. For those carriers, you stay on your current version until you request the upgrade through Descartes Customer Support.

Check the service status announcement published with each carrier release. It tells you whether that update reaches you automatically or you need to request it, which varies by carrier and by change.

Note: If an announcement says the upgrade is not automatic and you want it, contact Descartes Customer Support at servicedesk@descartes.com to schedule it.

How Carrier Versions Are Identified

Pacejet now uses a single version identifier for every carrier integration so you can tell exactly which version is installed in your portal. The identifier is the carrier's name, an underscore, then the version date ID, in the form CarrierName_VersionDateID.

The same identifier is used everywhere a version is reported, so the value shown in an implementation script matches the value recorded in your portal.

Internal Descartes support and service staff can see version information, but customers may not be able to find this information in available screens.

Finding the Version in an Implementation Script

Every carrier implementation script states the version it installs. Descartes support or services staff can look for the Version entry in the script. The value shown there uses the CarrierName_VersionDateID format, and it states which version the script puts in place when it runs.

Checking the Installed Version in Your Portal

Descartes support or services staff can confirm which version a portal is running from the Rate System record.

Select Admin > Location Setup > Freight Rating and Pricing > Custom Rate System, then open the Rate System record for the carrier. The record shows the version ID of the installed version in the same format used by the implementation script, so you can compare the two directly.

Confirming Your Version with Support

Carrier version numbers are not yet displayed anywhere else in the Pacejet user interface. If you want to know whether your installed version is the latest one available, ask Descartes Customer Support to check for you. Support can confirm the version in your portal and tell you whether a newer version has been released and how it would be applied.
