Key Downloads for Descartes Pacejet



This page describes the three small, locally installed components customers can download to connect their shipping workstations to Pacejet: the Print Connector, the Scale Service and the Cubiscan Installer. Use these downloads when you need to print shipping documents locally, capture weight during packing or capture handling-unit dimensions and weight from a Cubiscan device.

These installers are supported on Windows workstations and servers that meet your company’s IT standards.


Before You Start

Make sure the workstation or server you plan to use meets your company’s Windows and network requirements and that you have administrator rights to install software. If you plan to serve multiple shipping stations from one machine, use a central print server for the Print Connector rather than installing the connector on every workstation.


Print Connector

The Print Connector is software you install locally to connect a shipping workstation to the Pacejet cloud service. It retrieves and prints labels, bills of lading, packing lists and other shipping documents with minimal delay.

How It Is Deployed

Use the Print Connector on either a single shipping workstation or a central print server.

  • Install on each shipping workstation for single-station use.

  • Install on one central print server to serve multiple shipping stations on the same network.


What You Download and How to Install

Download the installer package and run it on the target machine.

Installer package (ZIP containing an MSI)

To install:

  1. Download the ZIP to the target machine.

  2. Unzip the package.

  3. Right-click the MSI and select Run as administrator or double-click the MSI and follow the installer prompts.

  4. After installation, open the Print Connector configuration from the Start menu and enter your Pacejet connection settings (provided by your administrator).

Notes

Note: Use a central print server when you need consistent printer access across multiple stations or when printers are networked.
Tip: If you change printers on the server, restart the Print Connector service to refresh the printer list.

Scale Service

The Scale Service provides local connectivity to hardware scales and transmits weights to Pacejet during packing. It runs on the workstation that is physically connected to the scale.

What You Download and How to Install

Download the installer package and run it on the workstation connected to the scale.

Installer package (ZIP containing an MSI)

To install:

  1. Download the ZIP and extract the MSI.

  2. Run the MSI as an administrator and follow the prompts.

  3. Connect the scale to the workstation and verify the device is visible in Device Manager.

  4. Open the configuration and review for your USB port as supplied with your scale documentation.

How It Works

The service reads weight from the local scale and sends the value to Pacejet at the moment of packing, so weights stay accurate and are recorded in the shipment.


Troubleshooting Tips

Note: If the scale is not detected, confirm the cable and drivers are installed and the scale shows a stable reading before trying again.
Tip: If weights appear wrong, check units (pound vs kilogram) in both the scale and the Scale Service configuration.


Cubiscan Installer

The Cubiscan Installer provides connectivity to Cubiscan devices for capturing handling-unit dimensions and weight. Different Cubiscan models use different sensing methods (sonic vibration or laser). The installer supports common models used in packing workflows.

What You Download and How to Install

Download the installer package that matches your Cubiscan model.

The Installer package is a ZIP file containing an MSI.

To install:

  1. Download the ZIP and extract the MSI.

  2. Run the MSI as an administrator and follow the installer prompts.

  3. Connect the Cubiscan device to the workstation and make sure any required drivers are installed.

  4. Open the Cubiscan configuration tool to confirm device model, communication port and measurement settings.

How It Works

The Cubiscan device captures length, width, height and weight for a handling unit and sends those measurements to Pacejet during packing, so dimension-based rules and carrier calculations apply.


Notes

Note: Confirm which measurement method your Cubiscan model uses (sonic or laser) and verify the model is supported by the installer you download.
Tip: If dimensions are inconsistent, check device calibration and placement of the item on the Cubiscan platform.


Common File and Installation Details

Use these steps for all three downloads after you select the correct installer for your environment.

All three downloads are delivered as ZIP files that contain an MSI, or as an MSI directly.

Customers should:

  1. Download the package to the target machine.

  2. Unzip the package if required.

  3. Run the MSI with administrator privileges.

  4. After install, open the installed application or service from the Start menu to configure connection settings, ports and device options.

Tip: Keep the original ZIP or MSI saved for redeploying to other workstations or for reinstallation. File names may change as new versions are released, so always use the latest file linked on this page.
