Overview
One way to speed up processing for some types of shipping workflows is to use a feature called Auto Ship; this is available on the Workbench and the Shipping Workbench. The Auto Ship process enables you to search for a set of shipments, select multiple at once, and release the entire set for immediate execution. Pacejet processes the shipments, prints labels or paperwork, and initiates ERP updates for every shipment in the Auto Ship set (with the exception of the first shipment in the set, see notes below), and can speed up the process by processing all shipments simultaneously.
- The MuiltThreadedAutoShip application setting controls this feature. The default is false.
- The first shipment in the set of shipments is not included in the multithread of shipments. The remaining shipments in the set will be
multithreaded after the first shipment completes.
Auto Ship Sets Can Run Simultaneously
Since Auto Ship sets run simultaneously they can significantly speed up overall throughput. For example, if 5 shipments each take 10 seconds to complete in total, the elapsed time per shipment will be 2 seconds or less. Since the Auto Ship process places a heavy load on Pacejet servers, the default maximum is 5 at once and the maximum allowable increase (through a request to support) is 10 simultaneous shipments.
Increasing the Number of Auto Shipments
Submit a support ticket to increase allowable maximum of simultaneous Auto Ships above the default of 5. Note that 10 is the absolute maximum allowed Auto Ship setting for any user location.
