What are Holds?
Holds are a type of Rule within Pacejet that can prevent a shipment from processing if it meets certain criteria. There are many types of Hold Rules: Excessive Freight Cost Holds, Weight Variance Holds, Missing Freight Terms Holds, etc.
Installing Hold Rules
Installing Hold Rules is exactly the same as installing any Rule within Pacejet.
You can install Hold Rules by clicking Setup, and then Shipment Rules.
How Are Holds Used?
Say that Kallihan Sprockets wants to make sure they are not overpaying for freight and wants to inspect every shipment before it is sent.
Kallihan can install the Excessive Freight Hold rule to temporarily hold any shipment that exceeds a certain dollar amount, say $250. Once they inspect the cost of the freight, they can decide if they want to send the shipment or if they want to use a different shipping option.
How Rules Appear During the Shipping Process
Using the case above where any shipment where freight costs has exceeding $25, Pacejet will display an alert message letting you know why the shipment was held.
Processing Shipments That Are On Hold
Continuing with the above example, once Pacejet displays the alert message telling them that a shipment is held for excessive freight costs, Kallihan Sprockets has two options.
Resolve the issue by finding a cheaper shipping option.
-or-Simply acknowledge they were aware of the Hold and ship the package anyway.
If Kallihan decides that the freight cost looks fine and wants to process the shipment as-is, they can acknowledge the Hold direction from the Rate and Ship page or directly from the Shipping Workbench.
Once you click the alert from the Shipping Details Title bar, click the desired Hold.
The View/Confirm Hold window appears.Check the Acknowledge box.
Click Save. You return to the Holds window.
Click OK.
Process the shipment as you normally would and the package ships.
Processing Holds from the Shipping Workbench
When working from the Shipping Workbench, Pacejet displays a round exclamation mark to indicate there is an issue with the shipment that needs to be addressed. Clicking the round exclamation mark reveals the issue with the shipment.
If there is more than one Hold on the shipment, only the first one will show up in the error.
You can also see your Holds by clicking the triangular exclamation mark. From here, you can also click the Hold's name and acknowledge it, if desired.
Notice that a shipment can have more than one Hold.
Managing Holds
Pacejet also keeps a running list of all the Hold Rules in your system. Just click the desired Hold Name, and you can drill down to see the different shipments affected by the Hold Rule.
You can find all Holds affecting your shipments on the Holds Screen. A Search field is is also provided to help you find specific holds.
