How to Use Carrier Settings with BlueGrace

Overview

Carrier Settings lets Pacejet administrators define carrier-specific defaults and special behaviors beyond the basic options configured during initial carrier setup. Use Carrier Settings when you need to store or control details such as credentials, pickup and delivery windows, document types, reference field mappings, and other settings that affect how a carrier is used in shipping workflows.

Learn more about it in the article: How to Use Carrier Settings.

BlueGrace Carrier Settings Reference

The following settings come preconfigured with the BlueGrace integration. Add a setting in Carrier Settings only when the shipper needs a different value than the default.

Tip: Use these values only when they match the shipper's BlueGrace configuration and business process. Time-based settings are especially important when scheduling pickups and deliveries.

Default / supported values

Example

DefaultCarrierEarliestPickupTime

Sets the earliest pickup (ready) time sent to BlueGrace when the shipment doesn't include one.

Format: HH:mm

<DefaultCarrierEarliestPickupTime>08:00</DefaultCarrierEarliestPickupTime>

DefaultCarrierLastPickupTime

<DefaultCarrierLastPickupTime>17:00</DefaultCarrierLastPickupTime>

<DefaultContainerUOM>Pallets</DefaultContainerUOM>

DoNotUseCarrierProBill

Values: True, False

<DoNotUseCarrierProBill>True</DoNotUseCarrierProBill>

Settings You Add Manually

These settings have no default. Credentials are required before BlueGrace can rate or ship.

Important: These settings are read by the BlueGrace integration but are not created automatically during carrier setup. Add each setting manually in Carrier Settings only if you need the behavior it controls.

<PauseForDocuments>10</PauseForDocuments>

SpecialInstructionsMessageType

Lists the reference fields whose values are combined into the shipment's special instructions. Separate multiple fields with commas.

Blank sends no special instructions

<SpecialInstructionsMessageType>DELIVERY_NOTES,SHIPPING_INSTRUCTIONS</SpecialInstructionsMessageType>

HazMatEmergencyResponseContactName

HazMatEmergencyResponseContactNumber

The emergency response phone number sent on hazmat items.

Phone number

<HazMatEmergencyResponseContactNumber>800-424-9300</HazMatEmergencyResponseContactNumber>

Tip: Use SpecialInstructionsMessageType for special instructions. Numbered versions such as SpecialInstructions1MessageType are not used by the BlueGrace integration.

Documents

The Documents setting controls which BlueGrace documents Pacejet retrieves after a shipment is created and which printer each one goes to. The key is the Pacejet printer key, and the value is the BlueGrace document type.

Supported document types: Bol, VICS_BOL, TenderedBOL, PalletLabel, PalletLabel4X6, PackageLabel, DeliveryReceipt, WeightInspection, CustomerFile.

<Documents>
<Document key="BillOfLading">Bol</Document>
<Document key="ShipingLabel">PalletLabel</Document>
</Documents>

Reference Fields

The ReferenceData setting maps Pacejet values to BlueGrace reference fields. Each fieldid must match a reference field set up in the shipper's BlueGrace account, so coordinate new mappings with BlueGrace.

  • Pacejet reference field: Set ispath="false" and name the Pacejet reference field in fieldname.

  • Shipment data path: Set ispath="true" and enter the path to the shipment value as the element text.

<ReferenceData>
<Reference fieldid="PO Number" fieldname="P_O_NUMBER" ispath="false"></Reference>
<Reference fieldid="Delivery Order Number" fieldname="" ispath="true">ShipRequestEntity/TransactionDetails/CustomerTransactionId</Reference>
</ReferenceData>

When These Settings Are Most Useful

  • Initial setup: Add BlueGraceUserID and BlueGracePassword, and use BlueGraceTestMode while testing.

  • Pickup and delivery windows: Adjust the pickup and destination time settings when a site's dock hours differ from the defaults.

  • Documents not printing: Increase PauseForDocuments if documents are missing right after ship or use BlueGraceDeferredPrint to print them later.

  • New services: Use BlueGraceAutoCreateClassOfService so services returned by BlueGrace are added without manual setup.

  • PRO number control: Use DoNotUseCarrierProBill when the shipper supplies their own PRO number.

  • Hazmat: Add the emergency response contact settings before shipping hazmat with BlueGrace.

Draft: This article reflects the BlueGrace settings confirmed so far. Add additional BlueGrace-specific carrier settings here as they are verified.
