Overview
NetSuite Sales Quotes/Estimates are often used to capture potential future orders that a customer has not yet committed to. Common examples include bids for projects such as a fence, building materials, or equipment where the customer needs a complete cost picture, products plus shipping, before deciding to proceed.
The NetSuite Estimate transaction supports this workflow. In many accounts this is referred to as a Quote or Quote for Estimate form, but it uses the same underlying NetSuite transaction type.
Pacejet extends this process by allowing users to obtain accurate freight quotes, covering parcel and LTL services, directly from the NetSuite Quote/Estimate. Users click a Quote button on the Sales Quote/Estimate form to perform rate shopping, select a carrier/service, and update the transaction with the chosen freight charges.
When the Quote is later converted to a Sales Order, the selected carrier/service and freight charges are carried forward automatically, ensuring pricing consistency for both your team and your customer.
When to Use Pacejet Freight Quotes on NetSuite Quotes/Estimates
Use Pacejet Freight Quotes on Quotes/Estimates when:
You are preparing a non-binding offer or bid and need to include freight in the total price.
Your customer wants to see complete cost before committing to a Sales Order.
Freight cost is a material part of the decision (for example, heavy or oversized items, LTL shipments, multi-carton parcels).
You want to rate shop across multiple carriers/services to find the best cost or service level at the time of quoting.
This approach helps your sales team:
Provide more accurate, competitive quotes.
Avoid under-quoting freight and eroding margins.
Reduce back-and-forth with customers about shipping cost once the order is placed.
How Pacejet Integrates with NetSuite Quotes/Estimates
Pacejet adds a Quote button to the NetSuite Sales Quote/Estimate form. Behind the scenes:
-
NetSuite passes key shipment details to Pacejet, such as:
Ship-from location
Ship-to address
Items, quantities, and weights/dimensions (as configured)
Pacejet performs rate shopping across configured parcel and LTL carriers and services.
-
The available options and pricing are returned to the user so they can:
Compare carrier/service options
Select the desired carrier and service level
-
Once selected, Pacejet updates the NetSuite Quote/Estimate with:
The chosen carrier and service
The associate Freight Cost, added based on your negotiated rates with carriers
-
The associated Freight Price, added to the transaction so that:
The quote’s Total Amount reflects freight
Any mapped freight fields (for example, Shipping Method, Freight Line item) are populated
This ensures the customer’s quote shows a complete, freight-inclusive total while still being a non-binding estimate.

What Happens When the Quote is Converted to a Sales Order
When the customer accepts the quote and you convert the NetSuite Quote/Estimate to a Sales Order:
The selected carrier and service from the Quote are copied to the new Sales Order.
The freight charge from the Quote is also carried forward, preserving the original quoted freight cost.
-
The Sales Order now reflects:
The same items and pricing as the accepted quote
The same freight details and cost that the customer agreed to
This helps maintain alignment between what was quoted and what is ultimately ordered, minimizing adjustments or surprises around freight charges.

Re-Quoting Freight on the Sales Order
In some scenarios, you may want to obtain a new freight quote on the Sales Order:
The shipment date is significantly later than the original quote date, and rates may have changed.
The customer changed the order (items, quantities, or ship-to address) after accepting the quote.
The original quoted carrier/service is no longer preferred or available.
In these cases, you can:
Open the Sales Order created from the Quote.
Use the same Pacejet Quote action on the Sales Order.
Perform rate shopping again and select a new carrier/service and cost.
You can either:
Honor the original quoted freight by keeping the original freight amount if business rules or customer expectations require it, or
Update to the new freight quote if you and the customer agree to use the updated pricing.
Your specific approach may depend on your company’s freight quoting policies and customer agreements.
Notes on terminology
NetSuite often uses the term Estimate as the underlying transaction type, even when your UI or users call it a Quote or Quote for Estimate.
Pacejet’s integration operates on this NetSuite Estimate transaction, regardless of the label applied in your account.

In this article:
Quote and Estimate both refer to the same NetSuite transaction type.
Sales Order refers to the standard NetSuite order created when an Estimate/Quote is accepted and converted.
