Carrier Insurance is a service provided by many carriers to protect your shipment against losses such as damage and theft. Carrier Insurance is not required by the carriers, therefore, each business can choose to use the service as needed based on the business needs.
Carrier Insurance is available on the Pacejet Rate and Ship page by selecting the special service and entering an insurance value for each package in the shipment. This task may be automated with business rules in the ERP that may invoke the Carrier Insurance service and set the package level insurance values.
Rates returned from the carrier with insurance should be different than rates returned without the service as most carriers charge a fee for the insurance coverage.
