How NetSuite SuitePromotions are Applied to the Item Cost

Overview

This article describes how promotions (discounts) in NetSuite are calculated in Pacejet. These promotions can be at the order level or the item level. This article also explains how we calculate the sales price for components of kits. The examples below show how the promotions are calculated and applied for each component price based on the same calculations for NetSuite promotions.

Item-Level Rate Calculations

An item-level promotion subtracts a specific amount from the item(s).

Rate of Each Line for Item-level Promotions

The rate of each line for item-level promotions is calculated by summing the amount for each item and corresponding line promotions and then dividing by the order quantity.

Order Level Rate Calculations

Rate of Each Line for Order-Level Promotions

An order-level promotion reduces the total amount by a percentage or a dollar amount.

Order-Level promotions will not reflect the calculated values within NetSuite.

Kit/Assembly Rate Calculations

When using NetSuite to sell kits, the default behavior is to show just the kit item itself on the sales order and item fulfillment. If this is the case, Pacejet will only see the kit item, not any of the components. However, when NetSuite is set up to track inventory in Bins or by Lot/Serial, the appearance of the item fulfillment changes to include the kit items (parents) and the components (members). This is a typical configuration for Pacejet customers, so most kit item fulfillments we see will include the parent and the members. When the kit parent and the kit members are on the item fulfillment, Pacejet shows both types of items by default.

For information about using NetSuite kits, refer to How to Use NetSuite Kits in Pacejet.

Rate Calculation of Kit Components

To determine the rate of the components of a kit, you'll need to determine the total value of all the components, as well as the weight of the kit.

Example

  1. Determine the total value of all components (Field: Total Component Value). The Total Component Value is calculated by adding each component's Base Price for QTY 0 and multiplying that by the quantity. Refer to the table below.
    base_price_0.png

  2. Determine the value of the Kit Rate (verify term in NetSuite) versus the Total Component Value.

      • The value is calculated by dividing the kit rate by the total component value.

      • In the example shown in the table below: $129.50/$185.00 = 70%

  3. Determine the Rate of Components.

The rate for each component is calculated by the Base Price for QTY 0 multiplied by the weight (refer to step 2).
Example: In the table below, the rate for the Walnut Board is: $60.00 * 70% = $42.00.
