Pacejet

Printing Automation for Labels and Paperwork

Overview

The Pacejet platform supports cloud-based printing automation which operates independently of the Pacejet API and is the recommended initial solution for most shipping integration solutions. With the Pacejet printing solution, a software component called the “Print Connector” is installed on-premise to communicate with the platform and route print jobs to appropriate printers without user intervention. Complications like multiple formats (e.g. zpl, epl, pdf, jpg, etc…), multiple workstations, multiple printer types (e.g. laser, thermal), and re-prints are managed by Pacejet and automatically activated as part of standard shipment processing.

Paperwork Endpoint

The Pacejet API does provide a Paperwork endpoint to support the option of retrieving labels and paperwork to manage printing in another application or to store copies of documents (e.g bill of lading) for future reference. The GET Paperwork action returns a list of encoded documents in the formats used by standard print activities, allowing integrations to decode and store paperwork or labels as needed.

Workstations API Endpoint

Another Pacejet API feature important to printing functionality is access to workstation settings to coordination certain printing activities in standard Pacejet processes. The Workstations API endpoint allows applications to make one call to retrieve a list of all configured workstations in the application. Example use-cases include providing a drop-down list of workstations in ERP sales order entry or fulfillment flows where Pacejet auto shipping will eventually be used to ship and print without any user intervention in Pacejet.
