Pacejet

How Does Pacejet Use the Scan Pack Functionality?

Overview

The Scan Pack module includes advanced features that provide additional value to the base functionality.

Scan Codes

The UPC Code is designed to provide the user a viable code to scan an individual item as a quantity of one into the system. Pacejet provides the ability to create a barcode that holds a quantity of two or more items. This provides value in that the user will only need to scan a single code tied to the larger quantity rather than scanning the UPC Code multiple times for each individual item.

Example: We have a total of 50 individual Iron Blocks, in the first set of the Unpacked Items section, to scan and pack for the order shown in the screenshots below. We have created a scan code set to the quantity of 50 for this particular product. Rather than scanning the UPC code or Product Code for each individual item, we simply scan the newly created scan code to pack the first set of 50 Iron Blocks at one time.

Self Pack

This feature gives the user the ability to create their own containers based on the dimensions of the of the items. When this flag is selected and the item scanned, it is automatically packed within its own custom container.

The Self Pack flag is located under the Extended tab within the Edit Product window of the selected product on the Product List screen. (Lists > Product > <product name> > Edit Product > Extended tab).

When the user scans in the item, the system creates its own container for the item based on the dimensions of the item.

Application Settings

  • Auto-Focus:

    1. Default – Pacejet’s has logic in place that sets the location focus based on the availability of a container.

    2. Scan Container – The focus will always be set on the Container field upon entering the scan pack window.

    3. Scan Item - The focus will always be set on the Item field upon entering the scan pack window.

      1. Options 2) and 3) provide value to heavy self-pack users in that they can permanently affix the focus to either the Item or Container field based on the number self-pack items.

  • Prevent Shipping If Packing Not Completed o Displays the dialogue box below when the user attempts to rate & ship the order, but not all of the items have yet been packed.

  • Scan And Pack Hard Stop On Wrong Item o Displays the dialogue box below when the user scans in an invalid item. This requires the user to click the ‘Acknowledge’ button to clear the box in order to continue the scan pack process.

Grocery Style Scanning

This type of scanning works similarly to how a grocery store cashier would scan in a large quantity of the same product item. They total quantity of the product item is entered and the item is scanned in once which scans all of the items into the container as opposed to scanning in each individual item.

Follow the steps below as an example of grocery-styles scanning:

  1. Open the Scan Quantity box.

  2. At the Status: Scan an item to move 9 quantity prompts, scan the item shown below.
This moves that quantity into a container.

The entered quantity of items is transferred over to the container.
