Advanced Topics on Shipment Rules

Overview

While the Pacejet Shipping Rules have been designed to ease the customization of your shipping process, there are times when more advanced configuration is needed.


Installed Rules

The Installed Rules tab shows you all the rules that are installed in your environment, including the Rule Name, Description, the Template it was based on, and if the rule is currently disabled. The Update Available column lets you know that there is a newer version available for a rule that you already have installed. The Enabled toggle button lets you know which of the Installed Rules are currently enabled. Rules can be enabled or disabled from this screen by clicking the toggle button. Also, notice that each rule is only listed to account for each time it is installed.

Rule Steps

In the Rule Steps tab, rules are listed for each time they possess a different rule type. The same rule can be listed multiple times to reflect each Rule Type it possesses. For an explanation on Rule Types, click here.

Installing a Rule Multiple Times

Some rules can be installed multiple times with each installation having different parameters. For example, you may want to set unique shipping tags based on multiple customers that you ship to.

  1. Click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.

  2. From the toolbar on the left, click the add.png icon.

  3. By the Rule Template you plan to install, click Install.

  4. Define the parameters.

  5. In the Installed Rule field, you may edit the name.
    Note: The recommendation is to keep the name, but add an extension that includes parameter information. For example, “Set Package Number & Weight-Box_2.0”

  6. Click Install.
    Note: Follow steps 2-6 to install the same rule again with different parameters. Be sure to indicate the new name in the Installed Rule field.


Applying Order to Rules

Rules are run in the order that they are displayed in the Installed Rules List.

  1. Click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.

  2. From the toolbar on the left, click the wrench wrench.png icon.
    The Set Rule Order window appears.

  3. In the Rule Type drop-down box, click the down arrow to select the type of rule.

  4. Drag the boxes around to get them in the order of your choice.

    The rule you put first will trigger first.

  5. Click Save.


Modifying Rules

Sometimes you may need to modify an existing rule, which is more efficient than deleting and installing the rule again.

  1. Click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.

  2. Click the Installed Rule name you plan to modify.

    The Installed Rule Detail dialog appears.

  3. Click Edit.
    The Reinstall Rule Template dialog appears.

  4. Make your planned changes, and then click Install.
