Informational Addresses — Alternate Return Usage and Setup

Overview

FedEx® and UPS® allow the use of an Alternate Return Address, enabling a return address to appear on shipping labels that are different from the Ship From information shown on the Pacejet Rate & Ship page. With the 25.7 Pacejet Release, you can now assign dynamic alternate return addresses on an order-by-order basis using the Informational Addresses feature. Previously, this was limited to one static alternate return address per account number.

Use Case

The most common use case for using this feature (Informational Addresses — Alternate Return Usage and Setup) is drop shipping for multiple retailers/partners. The Return Address displayed on the label can change with each order while shipping rates continue to be calculated based on the Ship From address shown on the Pacejet Rate & Ship page.

Note: This feature is not intended for use with logo and branding changes on documents like packing lists, BOLs, or other shipping paperwork.

Prerequisites

You must be on the most recent versions of FedEx and UPS integrations. If you are not, or if you are unsure, please request assistance from our support team to assist with integration updates.

Selecting the Alternate Return Informational Addresses

You can enter Alternate Return Informational Addresses in one of three ways:

  • Entering Informational Addresses From The Rate and Ship Page

  • Entering Informational Addresses via the Informational Addresses List

  • Entering Informational Addresses by Using the Set Informational Addresses Shipment Rule

Entering Informational Addresses From The Rate and Ship Page

  1. On the Rate & Ship page, in the upper-right corner of the Shipment section, click the expand button. Expand.png

  2. In the Informational Addresses section, click the plus plus to expand section.png sign.
    The Add Informational Address window is displayed.

  3. In the Type drop-down field, select Alternate Return and populate the remaining fields.

  4. Click Save.
    Now this address is available for selection from the Rate & Ship page by typing in the Address ID field of the Add Informational Address window.

Entering Informational Addresses via the Informational Addresses List

  1. From the main menu, click Lists, and then Informational Addresses.

  2. Click the plus plus to expand section.png sign.
    The Add Informational Address window is displayed.

  3. In the Type drop-down field, select Alternate Return and populate the remaining fields.

  4. Click Save.

Entering Information Addresses by Using the Set Informational Addresses Shipment Rule

  1. From the main menu, click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.

  2. Click the plus plus to expand section.png sign to install a new rule.

  3. Type "Set Informational Address" in the search box or scroll down to select Set Informational Address.

  4. Click Install.

  5. Populate the fields to configure the Shipment Rule so it automatically pulls the address fields from existing shipment fields or custom data.
    For example, you can set up the rule to display the Return Address as the Ship To Address.
    The example below displays the setup that would show the Return Address as the Ship To Address.

  6. Click Install to save the rule.
    This puts the selected data into the Alternate Return address fields
