Overview of Using Holds

Tracking Shipments Affected by Holds

You can see all shipments affected by a specific hold without having to manually record them. Pacejet keeps a list of all active holds and enables you to view every shipment they have prevented from being sent. See the directions below to learn how.

Installing a Hold Rule:

The steps for installing a Hold Rule are the same for installing any rule.

Quick Overview of Creating Shipment Rules

  1. From the Setup Menu, select Shipment Rules.

    The Shipment Rules Screen appears.

  2. Click the Plus sign to add a rule.

Tracking Shipments Affected by a Hold Rule:

Pacejet offers a way to track all shipments that are affected by Hold Rules. Using this tool you can quickly see every shipment that is being held.

From this screen you can acknowledge the hold by checking the box. You can also begin to analyze the effectiveness of your Hold Rules. Are your rules holding too many/too few shipments? Are they holding the right shipments? And so on.

  • Select Holds from the Activities menu.

    The Holds Screen appears.

  • Click the desired Rule name.

The list of held shipments appears.

  • Click the desired shipment to view and/or confirm it.

    The View/Confirm Hold window appears.

  • From here you can check the Acknowledge box and Save to allow the shipment to be sent.
Or you can click Cancel, resolve the reason the shipment was held, and process it normally.

Checking the Acknowledged box does not automatically process your shipment. You still need to select the shipment inside of Pacejet and process it normally.

Hold Profiles Are Active Immediately

IMPORTANT! After a Hold Rule is INSTALLED, THE properties in the Hold Profile (see section below) are active immediately upon being INSTALLED AND are applied to any shipments affected by the Hold.

You can go into the Hold Profile and disable it temporarily until you inspect the Properties to make sure they meet your needs. Just click the Disabled button in the Hold Profile window (see image below).

Using Hold Profiles To Improve Accuracy/Efficiency

Pacejet Holds contain several properties to help your company improve the accuracy and efficiency of shipments. Once your Hold Rule is installed, you can edit these properties to suit your needs.

Settings to Configure Holds

Transaction Type

The Transaction Type field defines when the rule is to be executed:

  • Load - applies to a collection of shipments that have ran.

  • Shipments - applies to individual shipments (Shipment is the default setting).

Rule Logic

Rule logic is an option generally used by Pacejet Administrators. It enables you to create Custom Rules using SQL programming language. Contact your Pacejet Support Specialist for more information.

Acknowledge Only vs Response Required

The Authorization Type drop-down menu (see image below) enables you to define the kind of response you want from your Pacejet user when a hold stops a shipment from Processing:

  • Acknowledge Only only requires that Pacejet users check the Acknowledged checkbox (see below) to confirm that they are aware the shipment was held. Once they check the box they can process the shipment normally.

  • Response Required requires that Pacejet users enter a response before processing the shipment. Once they enter a response they can process the shipment normally.

Authorization Message

The Authorization Message appears on the alerts that appear when a shipment is held from being processed.

Administrator Approval Only

When checked, the Administrator Approval Only checkbox requires that a Pacejet user with Administrator privileges takes the appropriate action to release the shipment that has been held.

Disabled

When checked, the Disabled checkbox deactivates the Hold Rule, not just the Hold Profile.
