A Note About the Product Brief
This product brief focuses on the new SuiteScripts 2.0 scripts that are available in current versions of Pacejet Shipping for NetSuite. Many existing Pacejet customer environments still use the previous 1.0 script technology, and therefore while not have access to the features and details described here.
Prerequisites for This Product
To use Pacejet Shipping for NetSuite 21.1 and higher, the following prerequisites must be met.
Available for NetSuite OneWorld or NetSuite standard ERP users.
Users must purchase the appropriate NetSuite SuiteCloud Plus licenses to meet data throughput requirements (search for “SuiteCloud Plus” in NetSuite help for more information and options).
Existing Pacejet customers should not attempt upgrading to the SuiteScript 2.0 scripts. This process is to be performed only by Pacejet Services or Solutions Engineering. Please contact Pacejet Customer Support or your Pacejet Customer Success manager if you have question about being upgraded to these new scripts.
Note To Pacejet Customers
Upgrading To The SuiteScript 2.0 Scripts Requires Scheduled Downtime
The update process to the new scripts typically requires approximately 2 hours, during which time you will not be able to transact orders between Pacejet and NetSuite. Additional time is required for configuring the Carrier Classes of Service cross references and subsidiaries. The amount of time required for this step is dependent on the number of cross references and subsidiaries configured for your environment.
Existing Customers: Content Format Is Now Available in JSON or XML Format
The Pacejet Feed field, used for extended data mapping and/or EDI reporting, is configurable for either XML format (for backward compatibility) or JSON (for ease of use).
Users may also wish to investigate the optional Pacejet Advanced Shipment Data (ASD) For NetSuite, which records expanded shipment, package, and other data in custom NetSuite fields for easier and more complete support for shipping EDI and other workflows.
Key Features of This Product
The following details provide a summary of key features supported by this solution. If a feature is not listed here, please assume that it is not supported.
Improved Transaction Speed and Scalability
Pacejet Shipping for NetSuite 21.1 (and up) takes advantage of the NetSuite Map Reduce tools for optimized integration. Integration transactions run up to 200% faster with standard Pacejet and NetSuite governance settings and 500% faster with enhanced Pacejet governance used in combination with NetSuite SuiteCloud Plus licenses.
All performance claims were measured in development and test environments and may perform differently for specific NetSuite-controlled provisioning environments and parameters outside of Pacejet’s control. SuiteCloud Plus licenses, and overall system processing speed.
Improved Configuration Management
New bundle settings features provide easier access and simpler configuration of many Pacejet integration settings from within NetSuite. For example, NetSuite administrators can now setup new shipping items and link them via Pacejet settings directly in NetSuite (replacing the older XREF settings management).
Stage Quotes and Shipments on Save
After item fulfillments are created and saved in NetSuite, new API-based processing automatically stages shipments more quickly to the Pacejet shipping workbench.
NetSuite Plug-Ins for Updates
Per NetSuite help, a custom plug-in uses a defined interface to support plug-in implementation behaviors that are bundled with a NetSuite SuiteApp. New Pacejet support for custom plug-ins allows solution implementers to define one or more alternate implementations. Alternate implementations will allow solution implementers to customize logic for the shipment update process.
Restrictions, Limitations, and Performance Considerations
NetSuite 21.1 or Higher Required for Advanced Solutions and Features
Upgrading to the Pacejet Shipping for NetSuite bundle (version 21.1 and higher) is required for new and advanced Pacejet features, including: Pacejet Advanced Shipment Data (ASD) for NetSuite, and future product, including Hazardous Materials parcel support via UPS WorldShip® and FedEx Ship Manager, as well as Pacejet Print Connector 2.0 and Pacejet Transportation Planning for NetSuite.
Current releases of the Pacejet Shipping for NetSuite bundle (version 21.1 and higher) do not support NetSuite WMS or RF-Smart (if used for packing).
NetSuite SuiteCloud Licenses
Users should discuss with their NetSuite representative the appropriate NetSuite SuiteCloud Plus licenses to meet data throughput requirements. Pacejet cannot provide advice on the license requirements, as this is determined by many factors including other bundles in use, required shipment throughput, and overall workflow.
Are You an Existing User? Do NOT Uninstall Existing Bundles
Current Pacejet users should not uninstall existing Pacejet bundles or attempt to upgrade to version 21.1 or higher because doing so will remove custom fields and accumulated shipping historical data. Instead, the existing NetSuite bundles are upgraded to the latest 21.1 (or later) bundle and NetSuite 2.0 scripts is performed by Pacejet Services or Solutions Engineering.
