Overview
In today's e-commerce driven world, many shippers have a high volume of simple but fast-moving shipments to process. Orders might include only one item in a single package or perhaps only a few items in one or two packages. The Quick Ship feature is designed to remove as many steps and as much time as possible from shipping fast-moving, simple orders.
Prerequisites for This Feature
The following prerequisites must be met to use this solution:
Barcode scanners: Users will need a Barcode scanner to scan special keyboard shortcuts, item numbers, and package numbers used to manage automated workflows.
Barcoded keyboard shortcuts: Users will need to print the provided barcoded keyboard shortcut and use this mounted at shipping stations to drive the application using only a scanner.
Key Features
The following provides a summary of key features supported by this solution.
Use scale weight or calculated weight with Quick Ship: When using Quick Ship, a setting allows you to use either the attached scale weight or a calculated weight without altering the current Quick Ship workflow of scanning items and scanning containers to close the container. Reading the scale value when entering or scanning the container will be the only means of gathering the container weight. In other words, no additional scan code is needed for gathering the packed container weight from the attached scale.
Note: If scale weight is selected in the Quick Ship settings, but no scale is configured, Quick Ship defaults to using the calculated weight.Auto-Ship fully completed packing (no Quick Ship UI displayed): When all items in a shipment are packed by the ERP, you now have an option to auto-ship the items after scanning the Sales Order (SO) or Delivery Order (DO). If the shipment contains any unpacked items, this setting is by-passed, and the shipment is packed using the Quick Ship User Interface. This feature works when the shipment contains fully packed items (for example, the item has been auto packed prior to scanning).
Optional application setting to rate and process after packing: An application setting, Rate & Process After Packing, allows you to automatically ship using the lowest cost Carrier Class of Service (CCoS) once all items are packed and a container is selected. This application setting can be overridden with the Rate Only Shipment tag. If you use the Rate Only Shipment tag, you will need to click Ship to process the shipment.
Application setting to open Quick Ship search screen when the shipping process is complete: The Quick Ship Search screen can be set to open automatically when the Quick Ship shipping process is complete, and you are redirected to the Ship Confirmation screen. In other words, you will not need to enter or scan Q. The setting works best when the Application Setting Open Connector/ERP Connector WS Update Mode is set to Proceed but can be used regardless of this setting’s value. The Quick Ship Search screen is displayed only after the Shipment Complete status is returned as successful: If the ERP Update returns an error, the Quick Ship Search screen is not displayed, allowing you to take necessary steps with the failed ERP update, requiring Q to be scanned or entered to return to the Quick Ship Search.
Print Rule to control printing Quick Ship labels on a closed container: If labels are printed on closed containers when using Scan and Pack Essentials or Enterprise, with this rule enabled, the labels will not be printed on closed containers when using Quick Ship.
Press Q to Quick Ship: Scanning or pressing the Q key activates the Quick Ship process; the process will remain active until you select Cancel on the Quick Ship form.
Automated three scan ship: One of the fastest workflows supported by this feature is a simple three scan ship, where users scan an order#, scan an item#, scan a package#, and exit to ship.
Multiple item support: You can optionally scan multiple items before scanning a package to hold the items for situations where a few items are shipped together.
Multiple package support: You can scan more items after a previous package number to create another package.
Auto rate-shop or auto ship: When scanning is complete, Pacejet will automatically ship with any pre-set carriers or, if no carrier is pre-set, automatically rate-shop and ship.
Self-pack or master packs: As another time-saving feature, users can scan self-pack items, and the system will load a package in addition to the item. Master packs are also supported.
Deferred printing: This feature supports deferred printing, which means that shipments which may have been auto packed and auto shipped with deferred printing can be scanned to just print labels and other shipping paperwork.
