Create a New Endicia (Stamps.com) Account for Use with Pacejet

Use this article to create a production Endicia account through Stamps.com for USPS shipping in Descartes Pacejet. After the account is active, you can enter the account credentials in Pacejet when you configure the Endicia carrier. Not that Stamps.com has recently redirected the standard Endicia signup page to the stamps.com signup.

Create the Correct Account Type

Create a Production Stamps.com account for USPS shipping. This is the account type used to buy USPS postage and ship live customer orders through Pacejet.

Do not create developer or test accounts for this setup. Developer API accounts, sandbox accounts and API-only registrations are meant for software development and testing, and they will not work for production shipping in Pacejet.

Before You Begin

Gather the account and billing details before you start so you can finish the signup process in one session.

  • Company name

  • Shipping origin address

  • Contact name, email address and phone number

  • Billing information

  • Payment method for postage purchases

After you create the account, set up Auto-Fund so the postage balance is replenished automatically when it reaches your selected threshold.

Create the Account

Create and activate the Stamps.com account before you connect Endicia in Pacejet.

  1. Go to the Stamps.com signup page.

    1. Endicia main page: https://www.endicia.com/

    2. Get started: https://registration.stamps.com/registration/profile

(Visiting https://registration.endicia.com/ will redirect to this new stamps.com page)

  2. Create a new Production account for USPS shipping.

  3. Verify your email address, if prompted.

  4. Add your payment method.

  5. Configure Auto-Fund for postage.

  6. Confirm that you can sign in successfully.

  7. Contact Stamps.com support to verify your account has access to Endicia Label Server (ELS) if necessary.

Set Up Negotiated Rates If Needed

If your company uses a USPS Negotiated Service Agreement, complete the additional USPS account linking steps after the Stamps.com account is created. Without that setup, your negotiated rates might not be available.

  1. Link your USPS Business Account.

  2. Connect your USPS Enterprise Payment Account, if applicable.

  3. Complete any USPS authorization steps that are required.

For the full procedure, refer to the Endicia Help Center article, New Customers: Link Your USPS Business Account to Stamps.

Verify the Account Before Connecting It

Check the account setup before you add the carrier in Pacejet. This helps prevent authentication and postage funding issues during configuration.

  • You can sign in successfully.

  • Your payment method has been added.

  • Auto-Fund is enabled.

  • Your shipping origin address is correct.

  • The account has enough postage funds.

Connect the Account in Pacejet

When you configure the Endicia carrier in Pacejet, enter the Stamps.com credentials for the production account you created.

  • Account ID

  • Pass Phrase

Pacejet uses these credentials to authenticate with the Endicia shipping service.

One your account is added, it will be available for visibility, tracking, and management. Accounts can be configured for all Pacejet operations or linked to specific site and facility structures to use multiple accounts.

Click on your account ID to access additional details on account status. You can also add postage or change your pass phrase.

Account Management Guidance

If multiple users or shipping locations will share the same postage account, create a dedicated company-managed account instead of using one person's credentials. This makes ownership clearer and simplifies ongoing administration.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The most common setup issues come from choosing the wrong account type or skipping funding and USPS account linking steps. Review these items before you move on to carrier configuration.

  • Creating a developer or sandbox account instead of a production shipping account

  • Using developer or sandbox credentials in Pacejet

  • Skipping Auto-Fund setup

  • Using personal credentials for a shared warehouse or shipping operation

  • Skipping USPS Business Account and Enterprise Payment Account linking when negotiated rates apply

Note: Contact Descartes Customer Support if the account is active but Pacejet cannot authenticate with the Endicia carrier.
