Commodity Name Systems for Advanced Data Mapping

Many ERP and other systems do not manage enough extended product attributes in item master tables to support more advanced freight, international, or other shipping use-cases. To avoid the requirement of extensive ERP modifications while supporting more advanced shipping, Pacejet uses a Commodity Name feature to provide a single value for each product which is mapped to a collection of more advanced shipping attributes. With this method in place shipping integrations can add a single Commodity Name value to the ERP item master and pass the value along with product information transmitted to Pacejet.

When Pacejet receives Commodity Name attributes with product detail, the Commodity table in Pacejet is used to assign multiple shipping attributes such as NMFC, Freight Class, Harmonization Code, ECCN, and more. Implementers can then add a single Commodity Name attribute to all products in an ERP item master and setup the Commodity table in Pacejet to support full freight, export, and other types of more advanced shipping use-cases.
