Address Validation - Setup

Address Validation Overview

There are two options for address validation:

  • Auto Correct (Default): The suggested address returned from the carrier will be used for the Ship To address.

  • Manual: Validation will still run, but no changes will be made until the user accepts changes. Users can accept the changes after they are notified via the Shipment Tag Status indicator.

Trace Logs

Trace logs displayed on the Rate and Ship screen (Shipment Tab of the Show Trace window) display the details, including address corrections that occurred and the user or process responsible for the corrections. The text is the same for both manual and auto-correct scenarios. A log is entered with an event date/time stamp for each entry.

Address-Verified Shipment Tags

Shipment tags display for each shipment and indicate whether an address has passed validation. Tags display post-import-only regardless of the address correction method chosen and will depend on the status returned from the API.

Follow the steps below to setup Address Validation:

After Address Validation is set up, refer to Using Address Validation for steps on using Address Validation.

Activate the Proper Licenses

This first step in the process gives the Pacejet customer access to the API and the set of carriers that perform address validation.

  1. From the Admin menu, select LicenseAdministration.

  2. Check the boxes next to AddressVerify, PacejetAPIHelp, and PacejetAPI.

  3. Click Save.

  4. At the Confirm Action dialog window, click OK to complete the process.

The AddressVerify license will display on the License tab of the Help/About screen.

Populate the Application Settings

The AddressVerify license and an application setting (Address Validation Enabled) must be enabled to use the manual Address Correction Method feature. Address Validation settings are unavailable in the Application Settings screen until the AddressVerify license is enabled. Activate the Proper Licenses covers the steps for activating the license.

Once the limit is reached, the customer can no longer validate another address until the next time cycle starts.

When picking the carrier that will perform the address validation, you must have a shipping account with that carrier.

  1. From the Setup menu, click Application Settings.

  2. Click Address Validation.

  3. There are four key fields to populate. Refer to the table below:

  4. Click Save after making your selections.
