RULES Overview

Overview

This article includes a description of the Pacejet Shipping Rules and where to find the rules, as well as steps on how to install the rules, enable and disable the rules, etc.


What are Rules?

Pacejet Rules provide flexible tools for users to customize how orders are packed, rated, and shipped. Rules can install new features into your Pacejet setup, automate workflows, reconfigure existing features, manipulate data, automate complex decisions and shipping policies, and more.


Hold Rules

Holds are a type of Rule within Pacejet that can prevent a shipment from processing if it meets certain criteria. There are many types of Hold Rules: Excessive Freight Cost Holds, Weight Variance Holds, Freight Terms Holds, etc.

Installing Hold Rules is exactly the same as installing any Rule within Pacejet. For more information, see the document Holds Overview.


Where To Find the Rules

  1. From the Setup Menu, click Shipment Rules.

    The Shipment Rules Screen appears.


Installed Rules and Rule Steps Screens

The Installed Rules tab displays the list of rules that are currently installed in Pacejet.

The Rules Steps tab displays the type of rule being used. These rules can come from the Installed Rules or can be custom made rules.

Installing a Rule

  1. Click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.
    Note: Ensure that the Installed Rules tab is selected.

  2. From the toolbar on the left, click the add.png icon.

  3. Use the Rule Search text box to type in the name of the rule you plan to install.

  4. By the Rule Template you plan to install, click Install.
    The system displays the Install Rule Template screen.

  5. Enter your planned values to the Parameters (if any Parameters exist).

  6. In the Installed Rule field, you may edit the name.
    The recommendation is to keep the name but add an extension that includes parameter information (if the Parameters exist). For example, “Set Package Number & Weight-Box_2.0”.

  7. Click Install.


Enabling, Disabling, or Deleting a Rule


Enabling or Disabling a Rule

The Enabled or Disabled button functions as a toggle button. In other words, Installed rules can now be enabled or disabled from the Shipment Rules Main screen.

  1. Click Setup, and then click Shipment Rules.
    Note: Ensure that the Installed Rules tab is selected.

  2. Using the Search textbox, find the rule that you plan to enable or disable.

  3. If you plan to modify the rule's settings before enabling, follow the steps below. Otherwise, go to step 4.

      1. Click the Installed Rule Name.

      2. Verify and/ or Update the settings.

      3. Click Enable.

      4. Click Save.

  4. Click the Enabled toggle button. The blue indicates enabled and the grey indicates disabled.

Deleting a Rule

If you delete a rule, the parameter setting are restored to the default settings (blank).

Follow these steps for deleting a rule:

  1. Click to select a rule.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. Click Ok.
