Using Pitt Ohio POGL Mode During Shipping


Overview

The Pitt Ohio LTL integration connector now supports a Pitt Ohio Ground Logistics (POGL) Rate Enabled message to activate POGL rates when a partner carrier service is used to provide transportation. When this message is attached to a qualifying shipment, the connector requests POGL pricing from Pitt Ohio (or a partner carrier using Pitt Ohio Ground Logistics) instead of standard Pitt Ohio LTL rates.

POGL service must be enabled on your Pitt Ohio LTL account. If POGL is not enabled for your account, the POGL Rate Enabled message will not return POGL pricing.


How POGL is Used with Partner Carrier Services

In many cases, POGL rates are used when a partner carrier service is handling all or part of the move under the Pitt Ohio Ground Logistics umbrella. In these scenarios, adding the POGL Rate Enabled message to the shipment indicates that:

  • The shipment should be rated using Pitt Ohio Ground Logistics (POGL) pricing.

  • The connector should request POGL rates, which may represent partner carrier linehaul under the POGL service.

  • Standard Pitt Ohio LTL rates should not be used for that rating request when POGL applies.


Prerequisites

Before you use POGL in production, confirm the following:

  • Your organization has POGL service enabled on its Pitt Ohio LTL account.

  • You are using the Pitt Ohio LTL v2.5 connector in Pacejet (check the carrier library for details)

  • Your shipment origin is in California and otherwise qualifies for POGL service under your Pitt Ohio / POGL agreement (including any partner carrier arrangements). The state coverage may change from time to time based on developments at Pitt Ohio.

If you are unsure whether your account is configured for POGL, contact your Pitt Ohio representative.


Activating POGL Rates on a Shipment

  1. Create or open the shipment you want to rate with Pitt Ohio LTL / POGL.

  2. Locate the Messages / Notification section in the Pacejet UI.

  3. Select the message type Pitt Ohio Mode Code and add it to the shipment.

  4. Save or update the shipment.

  5. Rate or Rate and Process the shipment

When the Pitt Ohio Mode Code message is attached and the shipment qualifies (including partner carrier POGL scenarios), the connector will request and return POGL rates from Pitt Ohio.
