Overview
The Standard Carrier Alpha Code or SCAC is a U.S. code most-often used to uniquely identify common carriers as part of EDI transmissions or GS1/UCC labeling (e.g. Advanced Ship Notice/ASN requirements). This articles reviews how SCAC codes can be accessed within the NetSuite ERP integration to support EDI transmissions using third-party EDI providers. Please see Setting Up and Using Standard Carrier Alpha Codes (SCAC) for an introduction and more information on SCAC setup and usage.
Mapping SCAC Values from the Pacejet Feed
To provide an additional method of integration flexibility, the NetSuite integration for Pacejet provides a general purpose "Pacejet Feed" field automatically attached to every Item Fulfillment / Item Shipment record. Normally this field is marked "hidden" and not visible to users but the data is available for automatic processes to retrieve and use in shipment processing. One way that any NetSuite user can provide access to shipment SCAC values for their EDI providers is to have the provider access the XML data in this field and map out the appropriate value when needed.
Mapping SCAC Values from the Advanced Shipment Data Bundle
Pacejet has a new NetSuite bundle called "Advanced Shipment Data" (beta available in 2020) to provider simpler and more automated access to a rich set of shipping data in support of EDI and other processes. This bundle provides an extensive set of new custom fields with additional shipping detail mapped into fields for easy visibility by users and easy access by workflows, custom events, or partners. SCAC codes are available as custom fields in NetSuite if the Advanced Shipment Data bundle is installed and active.
