How Often Must Users Login with MFA
Pacejet requires Multi-Factor Authentication, MFA, as part of the Pacejet login process. In most cases, users do not need to enter an MFA code every time they run a workflow from their Enterprise Resource Planning system. Once a user logs in successfully, Pacejet keeps that session active until the user signs out or goes about two hours without activity (please see the article entitled "Logging In Versus Using Existing Sessions" for a more detailed explanation on logging in and sessions).
When MFA Is Required
MFA is required when the Pacejet login screen appears. That prompt is part of the normal sign-in process, and there is currently no setting to skip MFA when the login screen is displayed.
If a user already has an active Pacejet session, Pacejet workflows can continue to open in tabs and run without another login.
How Sessions Work
The two-hour timing applies to the user session, not to MFA itself. After a user signs in, that Pacejet session typically remains available unless the user logs out manually or goes about two hours without activity.
While the session is active, users may run workflows from their ERP that open Pacejet pages in new tabs without being asked to sign in again. This can include tasks such as freight quoting, shipping and other Pacejet workflows that depend on an existing authenticated session.
Note: If the user signs out manually, or if the session ends after about two hours of inactivity, the next Pacejet action that requires an authenticated session will show the login screen and require MFA again.
What Users Should Expect
Users should not be prompted for MFA every time they move from their ERP into a Pacejet page, as long as the Pacejet session is still active. A login prompt is expected only when there is no active session available.
If users work in Pacejet throughout the day but pause long enough for the session to expire, they may see the login screen again later. Each time the login screen appears, MFA is required as part of signing in.
When to Contact Descartes Customer Support
If users are seeing the Pacejet login screen more often than expected, gather a few details before contacting Descartes Customer Support. That information helps confirm whether the behavior matches normal session timing or needs more investigation.
Note how often the login screen appears during the day.
Record the approximate time between Pacejet activities.
Confirm whether the prompts happen after manual logout, long periods of inactivity or during steady use.
Tip: If possible, share examples that show the time between the last successful Pacejet activity and the next login prompt.
