Overview
The FedEx International Freight services in Descartes Pacejet™ support cross-border freight shipments where the Ship To country differs from the Ship From country.
For example, shipments moving from the United States to Canada, or from Canada to the United States, qualify for these services.
Unlike traditional LTL freight that travels over the road, FedEx International Freight moves by air. As a result, FedEx handles these shipments more like parcel services than standard LTL freight.
When to use FedEx International Freight
FedEx International Freight services apply when:
The destination country does not match the origin country.
The shipment requires international air transportation.
Speed and cross-border efficiency are priorities.
Because these shipments move by plane, transit times are typically faster than over-the-road freight options. The operational handling also aligns more closely with parcel workflows, even though the shipment size may resemble freight.
Understanding this distinction helps ensure you select the correct service in Pacejet and avoid rating or processing issues.
